In a night where the sons of sons sat under the stars
My father’s father told the sons of the wisdom of the sun
The beauty of the world is beheld in who we love
To live and to die they are all we try to have
A feeling that we love, that we are loved by the one
The one who breaks our heart, our souls they starve
The one you love will never love enough
In the same night when the sons of sons sat under the stars
My father told the sons of the wisdom of the sun
The eyesore of the world is our love of the mirror
Our confidence constructed on a surface of silver
Our charity creeps from the mountain of useless surplus
Just so they say we are as kind as they say they are
We sweat and sin just that we see them sin and sweat
The only love we trust is love by us, for us, by things like us.
