Snakes

September 5, 2017 - Reflections
Snakes

Snakes,
in the midst of us.
Snakes,
on the other side,
where green meets grass.
Snakes,
in abandoned caves,
between lifeless stumps.
Snakes,
concealed in shadows,
to misty morning meadows.
Snakes,
everywhere.
Green snakes hide in grass,
a grass called malice.
Yellow snakes under the sun,
eye-catching yet soul crushing.
Black snakes that reveal,
true hues in view of dark.
Snakes,
in the midst of us,
‘friends’, ‘confidants’ and ‘lovers’
donning plastic smiles to our faces.
Snakes, everywhere. Be-ware or be victim.
