I will love you when my days get better. I will still want a picture with you when you’re troubled
I will love you when the tea is burning my lips. I will still want to have you as my everyday crush when the bathing water is cold as ice.

I will love you when my milk is the village gold and when the milk prices nose dive.
I will love you when the tea leaves are sparkling and when they have to be pruned.
I will love you when I sell all my produce on the market day. I will still hold your hand tightly when I don’t make a single sale
I will love you when the bonus from the Sacco arrives. I will still make a toast for us when the bank account has only credits
I will love you when the banana leaves are green. I will still esteem you as my lady when the leaves are rugged and curled inwardly
I will love you when the puppies are sweet as kittens. I will cherish you when the dogs are scary to the neighbours

I will love you when I have it and when I don’t

Because …

You’re the only bird chirping in my woods.
You possess my heart’s joy
